Diana Matthews is Austin Matthews's mother. She and her husband were good friends with Maya Matlin's family and as a result Austin and Maya were childhood friends. They later moved, but moved back to Toronto for Austin's freshmen year in high school. During the time when they moved away from Toronto, her husband George became physically and emotionally abusive to her and Austin. Diana was afraid to do something and kept telling herself that he would stop because she loved him, but he never did instead he got worse. Though George was arrested for Austin calling the cops. She is currently separated from her husband George while he is about to go to prison. She loves her son Austin very much and will do anything to protect him. She is portrayed by Vera Farmiga.
