Their friendship started on Hadley's first day at Degrassi. Hadley being the new girl some other girls making fun of her and, she met Austin in the hallway and he was the first person that gave her a chance. Soon Austin found out that Hadley cuts herself and she tells him about her bad home life. Austin tells Hadley about his bad home life and the two become closer, Austin wanting to help her because he understands what's she's going through. Later, during the 2012-2013 school year, Hadley started to have feelings for Austin.
After a brief conflict afterwards, they both admitted their feelings for each other, and eventually began dating at a Toronto Ice Hounds game when Austin made his move before Danny asked Hadley out. They had a good stable relationship until the second half of the 2013-2014 school year after Austin feelings for Maya returned. Hadley ended their relationship for good in Love Somebody (2) after overhearing Austin and Maya talking about a kiss they shared behind her back and Austin confessing his feelings for Maya and no longer wanting to be with Hadley.
